New Sign in Process

Over the next three weeks (12/05/2015 >), Google will be changing their sign in process. You will first be prompted to enter your username when signing in, and you will then be brought to a new page which will ask for your password. This is a process which already takes place on Android devices, and those of you using an Android device will find this new process familiar.

As the new sign in windows will be appearing as part of a gradual roll out, we cannot give you an exact date as to when they should appear, however, you will see this new feature over the coming weeks. Below is a copy of the text from Google's press release.

"Previously, people signed in to Google on a page that included both the ‘username’ and ‘password’ fields on the same page. We’re now splitting those two fields into separate pages. As we've said many times publicly, we're working towards introducing new authentication solutions that complement traditional passwords. We've already split the ‘username’ and ‘password’ fields onto separate pages in Android last year. This change to our web sign-in page is another is a step in that direction. Having completed a roll out to a small test group, we’ll now be rolling out the new sign-in experience to all Google Apps customers (both Rapid and Scheduled release) gradually over the next three weeks."
